Wreck Diving in Labuan

The four wrecks - Australian wreck, American wreck, Blue Water wreck and Cement wreck, all lie within 34km from Labuan. The Australian wreck, lies southwest of Pulau Rusukan Besar offers the best hull penetration for experienced divers. The American wreck, formerly the USS Salute, lies just 1.4km from the Australian wreck. The Blue Water wreck has the best visibility of all the wrecks. The cement wreck sits on the sea bed in an upright position. It is dubbed the most colourful and photogenic wreck of Labuan.

Layang-Layangan Beach

Layang-Layangan Beach is located on the west coast of Labuan, south of Pancur Hitam Beach. With sandy white beach, sounds of waves lapping at water edge, it is a popular place on weekends. Horses riding and cycling are some of the popular leisure activities on this beach.

Wreck Diving

World War II and post war shipwrecks make Labuan an attractive site for wall and wreck diving. Diving expeditions can be arranged with the hotels, resorts or tour operations.

 

Labuan has four popular wreck sites, namely the American, Australian, Cement and Blue Wreck. The American wreck is located about 24km from Labuan, toward the south west of Pulau Rusukan Kecil. It is a worthwhile dive to take.  The Australian Wreck lies 21-meter under water and is located 23km from Labuan, toward the south west of Pulau Rusukan Besar. The Cement Wreck is located east of Kuraman Islands, takes divers on a discovery journey up to a depth of 30m. It has been dubbed the world’s most colourful and photogenic wreck. The Blue Wreck is located at the north east of Kuraman Islands, is 34km away from the Labuan coast.

Pancur Hitam Beach

The most developed beaches in Labuan, Pancur Hitam Beach is a beautifully landscaped park extends directly onto the long sandy beach. On the south of Pancur Hitam Beach, you will find a recreational area known as the ‘Sudut Cabaran (Challenging Site)” which offers an ideal site for various recreational activities.
